The channel leading into Ayvalık Limanı is named "Dalyan Boğazı". Once up to Dalya Boğazı, the beacons marking the channel are clearly identified. A red conical buoy marks the shoal water on the N side of the channel entrance.

The Sand Festival which is annually organised in Ayvalık takes place at the Sarımsaklı Beach. This festival, in July, lasts for 1 week. The festival to which many famous people attend is all about music and entertainment.
